OK well first off I'm new here :) My name is Steph I post as "the bandit" over on COTH. I'm 16 from MI and just sold my old hunter so am horseless right now. I just moved to a new barn who does the A's so I plan on finding a horse to buy/lease and do a few A shows next year!

so the point to this topic....

How many of you teens out there have nose piercings and how did you convince your rents? I've wanted mine dont for at least 6 months but my parents think it's gross and discusting and even threatened to rip it out if I ever got it done :hammer: I'd do it behind there backs in a minute but can't until I'm 18 because of the laws and I don't want to wait that long! Grrr. advice?

well, i dont have my nose done, but i had to fight my parents for my bellybutton. I basically kept asking and telling them how much i wanted it done ..and told them i would do it myself lol.

I had my nose pierced but I was 18 when I got it. I had it about 2 years until I changed trainers and my trainer made me take it out to horse show. He said it was unprofessional. I eventually ended up taking it out for good. I miss it tho.

in St. Mark's Place in NYC there's a ton of tatoo/piercings parlours that will pierce anything for anyone of any age. I went to a nifty little place called Ian's and got the cartlige on my ear pierced and a friend of mine got her belly button done there.

Yeah - you might find that lots of horse shows frown upon piercings.

Mum didn't even like me getting my bellybutton pierced... so I haven't told her about the other ones

I would loove to have my ears and bellybutton done, but I am SOOOO afraid of needles, that I don't think that is ever going to happen...My mom doesn't care...she actually WANTS me to get them...

hehe - yeah - I'm terrified of needles
but the navel & nipple piercings hardly hurt at all (I just made sure I didn't watch the needle going in)
the others were a bit more painful though *wince*

I had my ears done when I was about 4 - but I never really liked having my ears pierced.. I don't like any facial/highly visible piercings.

If you do decide to remove a piercing then you can rub vitamin E oil around the area - this should make sure any possible scarring is totally removed (vit E helps repair skin)

I'm terrified of needles too, no more piercings for me! I got my ears done a long time ago, and almost fainted at the sound of it going through my ear lol! I would never be able to get my belly button or anything done (think about riding with that, eeeek!) Plus, I think i would look really really crappy in a nose ring lol

breeches + bellybutton ring = OUCH!

One of my friends used to have one...she had to take it out because it kept tearing the skin when she wore breeches...

^ eeeek! That would hurt SO badly!

I hate needles, too. I got my ears pierced when I was about nine, but I really never wore earrings after a couple of years. They're probably closed up by now lol..

i think nose piercings are gross

what i don't understand is tongue piercings... how do you eat?

I have my nose pierced and wear a tiny diamond. I didn't ask my mother, I just went ahead and did it..........boy was she pissed!!!

i m not a big fan of piercings other than ears but thats just me. I just dont like how they look and its gross to me. Alot of people like them tho

When I was 17 I got my eyebrow pierced on my own. My mom didn't want me to get a third earring in one ear, and I did anyway and she didn't notice. So I got bold and went ahead for the eyebrow. I lied about my age, and when the piercer asked to see my driver's license I told him I left it at home. Simple!

And my parents didn't freak out as much as I thought they would. I took it out after 6 months. I'd had enough. It left a small scar that you can hardly see.

Just GO FOR IT! If they freak out and yell, so what? Be rebellious!

I got both of my peircings when I was 18. I didn't particularly think either one of them hurt that badly, but it's over quick. I learned fast after I got my bellybutton done that I had to roll down my breeches a little. However, I've had it for almost 2 years now and it doesn't bother me anymore, even with my breeches right on top of it. Supposedly it takes a year to heal all the way.

My eyebrow was more of an annoyance, really. I would always see it out of the corner of my eye, think it was a fly, and try to swat it off. Ow. Plus when I rode it jiggled around, and it was always getting caught on things. I eventually ended up accidently ripping it out in my sleep. I have a scar, but you have to look for it to see it. I liked the way it looked, but it wasn't practical for riding and working around horses.

I want my belly button done really badly but like a lot of people i'm too scared, needles freak me out and i dont know if i could take the pain.

I So want my nose done but was also on the funny of ... when I take it our will there be a big nasty looking hole... just a little diamond ... mmm

BUT I have a gross question .. if you want to change the nose ring is it difficult to get it out .. like is the back of it as big as a regular earing back???

^ooo la la lol! I really want to get my belly button pierced, maybe in a few months I'll be brave enough to get it done. I'll definately go to Ian's. heh when my friend and I went we weren't going to have enough money to take the train back home so the guy at the counter gave us each a $10 discount

ahh my belly button hurt so much when i got it done.. =/ which is strange because all of my other..piercings didnt hurt at ALL.
but I know some people who say they didnt feel their belly button at all, and felt everything else..
i guess its different for everyone

lol Jane yep it didn't last too long with Frank tho. He's like you ride with me, you TAKE that out! My Dad begged me for months to take it out and then I switch trainers and *poof* it's gone. He was a little upset I didn't take it out for him.

This girl at my school does her own piercings...she always offers to pierce my nose for me...shes kind of scary
