Hey... I was just wondering what kind of stirrups to get when my saddle comes for my new horsie... does anyone have the Herm Sprenger 4-F System Stirrups?  If you do, are they really worth the $170.00???  Thanks  :D
Chelsea
I have the springers and they are AWESOME once you get used to them.  I hate riding in anything else.  I say that they are deffinately worth it!  :p
*JaDe*
What is the difference between them and regular stirrups?  Why are they so good?   :p

OMG !! i hav the double jointed sturrips from uhh state line i think...NO! Dover....they are just like the herm springer things...and they are like 40 or 50 bucks!! i luv mine... :D
and tyhe diff is..they are flexible where the rubber stuff is...so u can bend the sturrip and stuff ...it helps u keep ur heel down for safety and support... :D  :tu:  :tu:  :tu:  :tu:

I've seen a lot of people using those stirrups, so they must be good!  Personally though,  I just use the good old-fashioned regular ones  :D

My whole outlook on this is why get the new fangled stirrups when you can get the ones that you have been useing all along for a ton cheaper. Regular old stirrups have always worked just fine and unless you have a major back problem that is magically fixed with these stirrups  why bother

omg.... i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!!!!  :inlove:

I have really bad knees and ankles, and those stirrups have been a lifesaver. I'm hooked, and I've never regretted spending all that money on them.

^ditto...just dont go back to normal ones...my ankles hurt so bad when i had to ride in normal ones once after being used to sprengers for so long

I love my jointed stirrups.  I have the $60 Dominus "knockoffs" that have 2 links in them (hence they bend two ways - up and down) as opposed to the Herm Sprengers that have 4 links and bend both up and down as well as right to left.  I've seen pros use both, so it really is a personal preference.  I know people with back/hip/knee/ankle pain that swear by them and can testify that it has helped them with a more pain-free ride.  The long term effects seem to be really good. ;)  I'd go for it. :D

I love them for when I'm riding a smaller horse where I have to have my stirrups a little shorter, because that kills my ankles with normal non-flexible stirrups.  If I'm riding a bigger horses with my stirrups longer, I don't care either way!

I have the HS 4 way stirrups and I love them. My knees used to make this awful popping/cracking noise and now they don't. I love mine and totally recommend them - they DO make a difference. smile.gif

I have the HS four way stirrups too. LOVE THEM! I could NEVER go back to plain stirrups. I didnt have knee problems - knock on wood - but they are soo comfy.
One of my best friends who does the adult eq and adult jumpers has bad knees and she just got them and she LOVES them too
by the way this is jaime again on jaxs name so u guys dont think shes nuts posting twice
Good luck with your decision - i say go for it if you can afford them.

My sister sprained both of her ankles plus she does soccer so when you run alot your achiles shorten, which isn't the best thing in the world since for riding they need to stretch. She has the Sprengers and only with them she can really get any weight in her heels. When I ride her pony I use her saddle and I'm just starting to get used to them. If you can normally get your heels down w/o pain, then I don't think it's worth it, but if you have stiff joints etc. then go for it!

Are the ones from State Line Tack or the Dominius ones just as good?  I just can't see paying $170 for stirrups  ::O And also, I don't have bad joints, I just was wondering why they were so much  :)

Same reason why Burberry can charge a million dollars for a pair of plaid underwear when they can make it for about 2 cents

Since you don't have joint problems, then the Dominus brand is a good choice if you're just looking to be part of the fad.

I also play soccer for school and have HORRIBLE ankles.  I was going to the podiatrist weekly the first part of the season and still have to wear ankle braces on both ankles to play.  Thankfully this problem hasn't migrated into my riding, but I do try to prevent it by wearing ankle support socks that actually DO support.  My knees aren't the best pair either-My entire family has a history of weak knees, so the odds are pretty much against me.  :ooo: But, yes, the Dominus have worked well for me.

Which magazine or website can you see the Dominus ones on? Thanks  smile.gif
