I was just browsing over on HGS and come upon this. Actually I've got another point to make about that but I'll save it for later.

Pretty well hashed out - but what are some of your guys opinions?

I like the jumping out of hand comments - much better than the auto-release. I guess the definition of the auto-release isn't defined enough/or to much.

where the rider maintains a soft, elastic, steady rein contact with a straight line from elbow to bit as the horse jumps

So not a thing says about where the upper body is supposed to be - it really doesn't matter where the upper body is as long as there is the straight line from elbow to bit.

The other bit - I went to HGS because I saw Rumble said she was involved int eh eventing club - given that I'm a eventer I went and had a good look at the forum... my question is - why use different user names on different boards? i.e Rumble is rummymuffin (sorry to pick you out rumble) and I'm sure there are others... idea-1.gif doh - i just figured it out - the user name wasn't avaliable gah.

sorry! Actually I prefer rummymuffin to rumble, actually I can't decided which one I like better... I didn't mean to pick you out - you were the most obvious one that I had seen so far. sorry if I offended you!

Interesting thread. I prefer doing crest release on hunters, but sometimes I use automatic release, especially over higher jumps and when I need immediate control afterwards. My teacher, however, makes me do auto all the time in lessons bacause she says I'll never learn to balance if I use the horse neck for balance.
