I have a sorrel overo paint with equal parts white and chestnut. I'm stumped as to what shampoo to use. I want to intensive the white and keep the sorrel bright. Ideas?

I would use an all color shampoo.
Perkapoo has always been my favorite.
You can use quicksilver on socks (if they're white), or if you want to do each patch individually, I suppose you could. If your horse has a white tail, I'd use one of those products, but I've found perkapoo pretty incredible. It comes in huge jugs and lasts forever.

I use a mix of Quiksilver and Pamolive on Tango, and it makes her look fabulous.

On my old paint pony I used Quic Silver on his white area's and whatever shampoo on his colored areas, so I think just treating each different colored area with seperate shampoos would be best. I also like to use Ivory soap on grays, really works!

I have a color -intensifier- shampoo that I use on most of the body, and then I do the white parts again in Quic Silver. It works pretty well, except that horse is about to shoot me when I am done because the whole process takes so long.
At least, that is what I do when I am motivated enough to clean the thing. Which, I must say, is rare. I was pleased this year when I realized that body clipping everything leaves pretty clean hair underneath - from now on I intend to just shave her whenever she gets dirty.

not sure about the sorel. but for the white, I use this shampoo. Its like purple, we call it bluing, not sure what the actual name is. Any one have any ideas? anyways, it works WONDERFUL. It makes them so white. I use it in my horses supposed to be white mane that is actually normally tan from all the dirt, but it makes it look white. We leave it in for a few.

That sounds like Quic Silver. It's purple when it comes out of the bottle (and actually, we discovered by accident once that if you leave it on for too long, the white area gets a bit of a lavender tinge).

Yes, that might be it. Yeaa, that happens, dont leave it on for too long! But if you leave it on for just the right time, it becomes very white.

I would use any shampoo that is marketed at white horses, but does not contain any bleach (you might need to read the labels).
I use a herbal one that a friend makes up - her horses work on TV and in movies, and are mostly greys - and they're always sparking. She keeps them at pasture with no covers on. Her shampoo is great! And no bleaches, so I can use it on my bays as well... smells devine too!
Might be a bit difficult to get it through customs to send to you though, lol

When showing a pure white horse for a few years I asked greg best how they kept gem clean and he told me MR. BUBBLES. It is in the kids aisle, and it works great on white and colors and being it's made for children is not harsh. Cheap too!

Whoa, check out the name drop on this post. What does it signify that "I" is capitalized and "greg best" and "gem" aren't? Anybody?

Narcissism? Some kind of complex delusional disorder? I dunno, don't we have a real psychologist on this board?
Hey, I think I remember her riding that MR. BUBBLES horse back in the late 90s.
