Just curious..what is everyone majoring in?
I'm a sociology major with a psychology minor, and I intend to go to grad school somewhere in the NYC area and get an MSW. Then again, I'm only a junior so that might change within the next year and a half.

Well I'm just a freshie at the mo, but I've had my whole life planned out since I was in grade 8 haha. I am doing a degree in Physiology and then on to Vet Med or Physical Therapy as plan B. Definitely sticking to small animal vet though, that way I can still ride somewhat and not be up at all hours of the night trucking around in cow shit during calving season.

I'm just curious- why South Africa? My boyfriend's family moved here from Pretoria about three and a half years ago. I have traveled around a bit with them and gotten the insider's perspective so to speak, and I can't think of anywhere I would less like to live. The Cape is beautiful though. Would you be doing some kind of relief work?

no, i dont actually want to move there, but i am probably going to do a study abroad program in Stellenbosch this summer. Have you been there? Its just an area that ive always been fascinated with and i feel like i wouldnt get many chances to go there (particularly on my parents money).

Yeah, I spent a couple of weeks there. It is a very hopeless place to visit. The people there that have spent their lives being oppressed politically and not educated, who are now voting, are electing totally incapable people. The minister of health got on the news and said there is no connection between HIV and AIDs, and that unprotected sex has nothing to do either one.

If their current president succeeds, he will extend the allowed number of terms he can serve and in many ways erase all of the democratic progress that they struggled for so long to make. It's a beautiful country with great wildlife, but hard to travel in because of the high crime rates. Its a fun place to visit, and it will give you a whole new perspective on life, but I couldn't handle more than a few days at a time, much less a whole semester. It's a place with a lot of need though, I mean, bless your heart if you end up going.

Should you explore the Concentration in Landscape Studies you will study landscape conservation and ecology to understand how people change their environments. From this study you will realize how important it is that we balance development with conservation and examine ways to implement that balance.

Currently slaving away for the pharma industry for an exorbitant salary considering my day mostly consists of taking walks around the pond and getting free donuts at meetings.
Transferring to UMass next year to join a research team there. I have three semesters left and then I'm freeee...after this year off to actually work a real job.
