Anyone watch the premiere of Gossip Girl on the CW? I love the books, and I think they nailed the 2 main characters (Serena and Blair). However, I didn't like how they completely cut out Vanessa, made Jenny blonde, flat, and annoying, as well as made Eric younger and suicidal. Oh and Nate was kind of wussy. Chuck is nice and creepy, they did well with that.

I love the books as well but really wasnt that into the show. Blair and Serena were definitely right on but Nate wasnt cute enough and I like that they changed the school he wanted to Dartmouth instead of Yale for his choice college. Hopefully it will get a little bit better as the season goes on but I guess to me right now the books are alot better. But isnt that how it always works out haha

I've sat here for a good 15 minutes debating whether to admit this, but I watched it - and it kinda sucked me in. I haven't read the books so nothing to compare to ... maybe it's better that way.

I agree. I didn't read the books, and I really loved the show. Wednesday tv nights are going to be gooood

I don't know I liked it but I thought the acting was kind of crappy. Hopefully it will get better. I'll definently watch a couple more episodes but if the acting stays this bad, I'll start watching Kid Nation!

We did fake tatoo night and threw popcorn at the screen. LOL and then I typed my humanities paper. which I loathe. I HATE how much our teacher limited us...

edit: it actually reminded me a lot of my highschool... which was kind of eerie. and depressing. and irratating.

I've never read the books, and while I thought the premiere was really good, I'm kind of curious to see where it can/will go... seems a little predictable. Oh well, it helped me procrastinate to my fullest potential and that's a plus.

Never read the books but the show has me hooked! I can't remember the characters name, but the actor who has that crush on Serena and punched Chuck is SO cute...so yes I have to watch now haha.

Re: Kid Nation - in our tv zone that's on at 8, GG is at 9 - however, I've been watching ANTM since cycle 2 and that conflicts with Kid Nation. But ANTM is driving me crazy these days (Tyra makes me want to pull out my hair, I'm not kidding) and that Kid Nation show was mildly interesting ... I'm hoping it turns into Lord of the Flies ...

Don't get me started on ANTM. Is it just me, or did Tyra look a hell of a lotta darker? I gasped when I saw her at the judges table when they were doing interviews and such. And whats with all the non- good looking models? I understand that Tyra [as she has said in interviews] likes "different" looking models that aren't the norm, but jesus, we don't need freak looking models. There were a few that would be perfect in the Haute Couture designs, but that will never happen since the highest things the ANTM winners do are the CoverGirl commercials they do on the show, then it goes south...

ANTM marathons are great when it's friday, you have a game the next day and can't go out. All hosts of those kinds of shows piss me off...Tyra doesn't annoy me as much as Padma. As for Gossip Girls, I HATED the first chapter of the one book I read, so didn't even bother with the tv shows.

I know!! It is the stupidest thing ever that they spend time disparaging all these girls because they are "too commercial" when in fact the winners are lucky if they are able to even get commercial work after the show.

Really, Tyra just drives me crazy with all her mannerisms, etc. Also she is getting way too predictable ... cry and tell her about all the hard things you've had to endure in life, and you can get on the show.

I think she is hypocritical sometimes too. I can't think of a good example, but its like many times during those marathons on MTV/Vh1, I'll watch an episode from early in the season where she says to do this and that, and then at night prob the episode around the top 5 or 4, she says that any model that would do that will never work.

I [try] to keep up with those signed on to certain fashion houses and such, but I am more kept up around Fashion Week time. With NYC SS'08 week just wrapping up a week or so ago, Jaslene [?] was signed on for one show, which was the GenArt show with emerging designers and such and proceeds go to send designers through more training and ect. But I mean, other than that [which didn't get much press] right now she is the face of the urban brand SouthPole, which isnt saying much...

Gossip Girl wasn't bad but it wasn't good either... I'll watch it for sure but eh, its not doing the books justice. I don't know if I like the girl they casted as Serena. I love her as an actress (loved her in sisterhood of the traveling pants) but I just don't know if she's right for Serena--maybe as the season goes on it will get better. I reallyyyyy don't like who they cast as Nate but Blair is awesome and so is Chuck and Dan. Jenny was done bad too--I mean come on her whole character is about the boobs...

I watched it and I think it'll be one of those shows that I watch when I have nothing better to do--but it's definitely not good enough to go on my list of shows that I make sure to see every week. I thought Blaire was awesom, Jenny seemed way too awkward, and I felt bad for Serena, even though I never felt that way when reading the books. I agree that Nate's terrible and Chuck is awesome. I don't think the show will do that well though because it's SO predictable so even if you haven't read the books you can guess what's going to happen. And if you have read the books, it doesn't even start to compare.

I didn't like how serena's brother was suicidal and dan's dad was a rock star. I also thought Nate should be more attractive (He makes Dan look better in comparision) and kati and isabell... I don't even know. Jenny looked too freshmen-y (not the type of girl a senior would be likely to hookup with). Serena and Blair were okay. I'm not so sure about the whole Rufus-Lily connection either.

I love the books, and the show is pretty good, but like a lot of other people said I don't like how they made Jenny flat and blonde, and made Serena's brother younger

Are there still new eps coming out?? I haven't watched since X-mas.

I think the new episodes are starting in April, they stopped making them for a while because of the writers strike.

I'm pretty sure that the new episodes start on April 21st. I'm so excited. I have to admit, I'm addicted to gossip girl haha

Yeah they stopped playing new ones and started playing all of the episodes from the beginning, b/c of the writers strike. They should be coming out with the new ones soon though, I think like Libby said in April.
