okay im taking the pony im leasing to a local western schooling show very low key and casual but ive never ridden at a western show and the pony is a qh and used to do the rated hunter shows but wont jump any more not because of soundness issues or anything she just doesnt like to do it. but anyway im gonna take her in a pleasure class or two and then do speed events just to see if she likes western riding and because my hunter show horse is lame. so i need something to ride right now but i dont know what to buy to wear im not going to do serious showing or anything just this series if she likes it. and i know im going to sound like a complete fool but its okay. but i have a barrel saddle and would i be marked down for riding in that??? in pleasure? but the only other western saddle we have currently is a haflinger sadddle haha. but yea just tell me basic what to wear nothing too expensive. and any other tips for the show. sorry ive rambled on long but i have no ideas. and just wanted to give you guys an idea of my situation so thanks for all your help.

I don't know about the whole saddle thing, but as far as what to wear; jeans, paddock boots, and plaid shirt (boys department at Walmart). You can wear either a cowboy hat or a helmet, and it doesn't matter what you wear in the games. Good luck. smile.gif

Get some wranglers (or similiar type, no low-rise, straight leg) starch and iron them so there is a seam down the middle, a belt, an oxford type shirt, hat, boots...see if you can get ahold of some real western boots, that will look the best with jeans. A barrel saddle will be fine in pleasure, a saddle is a saddle. Good Luck!

the plaid shirt thing with jeans is so outdated...o well if you're only doing it once it doesn't really matter. i would see if you can borrow some clothes or something. Also, I suggest you wear a helmet for speed if they don't make you anyway, speed events are so dangerous
