Dressage, then something of a derby round in a large indoor. I guess you could technically call it eventing, but it nowhere near the same caliber. More like a sad mutation of the sport to accomidate crowded conditons and lack of land. However, it might raise popularity for TV viewers, having everything in one stadium.

Opinions? have you seen/heard about this?

This is news to me, but honestly looks like a blast.
I love eventing and it would be terrible to see something like this replace it. But as an extra as well as eventing I think it would be really fun. That type of event would be far easier to coordinate and run, and I would imagine it would be easier on the participants (so more of a fun show). I suspect it would also be far easier to take multiple horses around, and the judged riding might help eventers loose their bad rep as unskilled riders.
For my lifestyle right now I can't see myself eventing any time soon (not enough time/money), but something like that (if it were to come to Canada) would be possible and enjoyable.

I personally feel or at least hope it won't take over the true sport of eventing. However, it would be pretty neat to run these kind of shows during the off season especially with the cold and snow in the New England area, it would be a nice way to keep your horse in shape and keep them accustomed to certain type of fences.

I actually saw one of these courses at a horse show in England. I thought it was really cool. I don't think it would ever replace real eventing because it definitely isn't similar enough and there's no real demand for something like that to take over outdoor eventing, but it's kind of a cool thing on its own.

When I was at the Mechelen horse show in Belgium, they had an indoor cross country thing, and some of the big names in eventing (like Clayton Fredericks and his wife, Lucinda Fredericks) came. It was super, super cool. What you can't do indoors really is the long gallops, but they did a great job of simulating the fences, and put in some great combinations, and even built a bank into the ring, which was jumped two different ways.

That sounds like so much fun!

At the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto this year they did have indoor eventing, though as an exhibition thing I think. I can't find a video, although page two and three of this gallery does have some photos (about five...the last two on page 2 and the first three on page 3)

Very neat, but looks terrifying.

Looks fun, but honestly not too different from SJing. I highly doubt it will replace classic eventing though at least not for a while.

Looks really fun but it strikes me more as a jumper class with cc jumps. Maybe a new hybrid? Oh that would be so much fun!

I don't think it can even be called eventing, I mean, they're just so many things missing. However, it would be pretty cool as a new type of sport or something to that effect.
