Yes our barn had a pleasant surprise today, a mare gave birth to a beautiful bouncing colt! The only thing is nobody knew the mare was pregnant!!!

I heard someone say something about a baby in the field so I ran up to the field to find a beautiful foal on the ground still wrapped in the placenta! I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Thank goodness a vet was on the premesis and mother and baby are doing fine!

Aww, that's so funny! It happened to a friend of mine too. How long had the mare been at the barn? Take some pictures soon so we can see!

The owner bought the mare 4 months ago and although she was "chubby" nobody knew she was pregnant.
The foal is a beautiful chestnut with a white face and white socks.........

We just found out that a mare at my trainers barn is in foal. Everyone thought she was just fat (we have only had her since December), then the vet checked her and said she would have the foal in June. It should be a really cute baby, hopefully a paint.

Hehe something happened like that at my barn, we got a school horse, and we couldnt figure out why the less we fed her the fatter she got, when we called the vet he laughed when her but the heart moniter on and heard two hearts, lol mabye that why, they foals name is double hearts

aww...that's so cool! glad to hear they're both doing fine. I'd like to see pics also! The barn manager at my barn said one of her brood mares is due to foal any day. I had asked her what was going on because there were about 15 bags of sawdust next to my horse's stall and we don't use the bagged stuff. I can't wait to see the foal!

lol how in the world could no one notice that she'd waxed up or was milking. Or even that she'd dropped - thats a VERY visable one. lol. Thank god things went smoothly for her!

AWWWWWH! HES SOOOOO CUTE!!! one of my friends had a pony that they bought as a resale project..and like after 4 months or so they took her to a horseshow (2'3-2'6ish jumps) and the very next day she had a foal...it was crazy! the foal is so cute! shes grey and shes probly going to be a small if i remember correctly
