hahaha I know it's crazy. My grandma is gonna be quite upset. She LOVES Martha and thought the whole thing was just like a "publicity" hoax. I don't like Martha, I think she's completely fake and finally someone famous is getting what they deserve and not getting off cause they have money and good lawyers

Maybe she can host her TV show from jail. She can demonstrate the proper way to do the prison bed sheets. Or do they even get sheets (or are they worried about people hanging themselves?hmm)?
And maybe she can turn the inmates from dirty, uncouth prisoners into upstanding gentlemen who can paint and cook and garden like the best of them.

haha

What she did was stupid, but it's not like she's lost everything because of it. Just her freedom for a determined amount of time... She's still loaded.

Yeah, except she has millions and millions of dollars. To her, $60,000 shouldn't have been worth such a big risk.

Ok, she had shares in a stock of a drug company called IMClone. IMClone had a new cancer drug on the market that they needed approved by the FDA (food and drug administration- the approve all of our medicines for sale). However, the FDA would not grant it's approval. Martha Stewart found out this news before IMClone made it public to it's share holders (which would have caused a large drop in the sale price, as IMClone was about to go bankrupt) and sold her stock in IMClone. Legally, she should have held onto her stock and then sold it when the news became public.

I kinda feel bad for her, i hate her perfectness but come on, if your stock broker was like sell stocks or you will lose lots of money, you wouldnt just sit there and lose money. thats like siting in a house thats on fire.

I do see your point, and anyone in her situation would prolly do the same, I know I would.......but I still don't like her....making it seem like you have to be perfect all the time, when she's actually just your average rich alcaholic

But I gues everyone is entitled to their own opinions anyways.

I think shes just stupid. Sure we would have done that but not all of us are completely educated on the stock market... she's sat in on huge meetings with the big shots in the New York Stock Exchange and she used to be a Stock Broker!! You would think she would know the basic rules of the stock exchange and be sure to follow them carefully and not be stupid, and get nailed. I hope she enjoys herself in jail.

It's ILLEGAL for stock brokers to tell their clients when to sell, especially if they have "insider info." such as when the price of stocks is going to plummet. Martha allegedly got in touch with someone with said insider info. and asked what she should do. Illegal. She deserves to be jailed, just like anyone else would.
If she hadn't LIED to the government, she might not be in such deep water. Screw Martha-I never liked her, and now I have a good reason for it.

They didn't lie to the government. When they were questioned about it, they just stayed quiet. What really did Martha in was talking about it afterwards, which gave the prosecution a lot of stuff to use against her.

yeah.. i'm sure she isnt the only one whose done stuff like this.. but i think its dumb that the one reason that they are saying she is guilty is just because she is famous. Because i know that she prolly did it, or something to that, but if she hadnt really done all of that stuff, they would most likely still convict her because they dont want someone famous getting off again. Personally i have nothing against her... i dont hate her.. and plus jennifer garner likes her.. so i cant! jk.. sortof.. but she hasnt done anything to me... like my spanish teacher says.. hate is a strong word.. "You dont hate the hamburger.. you simply dislike it." straight from the mouth of senora rivera.. haha my spanish teacher is too crazy

Well, Martha is a lot of things, but stupid she's not.

What she did wasn't out of stupidity, but rather, ARROGANCE.
She wouldn't be this much hot water if she'd just admitted to what she did when they first questioned her. I hope her lawyers are advising her to change her attitude, admit her wrong doings, and show some remorse, and cross her fingers the judge will take that into consideration and lighten her sentence a little. Sure they're going to appeal, but what are the grounds? it's not like they have too much to stand on.
I've never been a fan of Martha Stewart, not just because she's a bitch, but also that she has never really been "honest" --- before she got really famous, she was sued by a few chefs whom she'd stolen their recipes right out of their books and claimed as her own "inventions" in her earlier books.

That said, I do think she was kinda singled out and targetted because of her fame and the fact she's a woman....sorta like what they did to Leona Helmsley. There are lots more men out there who had been doing much worse than what she's done....they should go after those guys too!
BTW Witchy, I don't know if it's a fact, but I heard the figure on what was spent on prosecuting her was around 10 million.

A lot of those Enron guys got off scott-free. Don't ask me how! (meanwhile, Martha got busted, and what she did didn't affect anyone's jobs or retirement funds (to my knowledge.))

I called her stupid for the reason that she used to be a stock broker. You would think someone who used to make a living off of trading stocks would know to be careful and take everything into consideration with the stock market.

Okay, let's try again....
Yes, I'm aware Marth Stewart used to be a stock broker, and that's why I said she's anything but stupid. because she KNOWS the rules, yet chose to break them, therefore, it makes her an arrogant person.
Believe me, she wouldn't be where she is (or should I say WAS?

) if she was stupid.
